Make full use of the facilities.   Keep schools open full days, all year including the summer.  No other activity sends capital money then closes the buildings so much of the time.  You would never use a
factory or office building that way.

Kids no longer need the summer off to work on the farms.

School children require time off to visit family members flung far by corporate manuevers, to enjoy natural resources that are distant from their home base i.e. mountains, rivers, oceans, and to relax. Think about how the other countries give 5 and 7 weeks of holidays while we may be fortunate to have two. One of the benefits of teaching is the poential to have summer free for writing important publications. Sandy M.

Sandy,

Nice thoughts but hardly anyone but school children and their teachers
get that much time off. One way or the other schools should be on the
same type of schedule as other operations: increase their time off for non-schools or cut that of the
schools.
