No reply. No action. The email was sent yesterday and today the situation was the same.
Yesterday I asked a security person about why the elevators adjacent to the escalators were also closed and I got a curt: there are stairs right there.
It's no secret that the City of White Plains is run by and for the people who live in houses in almost Scarsdale and almost Harrison. Especially with the thousands of new market rate rental apartments created in recent years to further subsidize the sales tax that keeps property taxes much less than in Scarsdale and Harrison, the disconnect between them and the majority of residents in apartments has increased.
They support public housing and affordable housing (not the same) because it provides a sense of self congratulations. And the best part is that it doesn't impact them.
Maybe the solution is electing Common Council members by geographic districts, you know, like Westchester County, New York State and the United States of America.
That's been suggested here previously.
